NUJ welcomes decision to extend universal credit changes

  • 04 Nov 2020

The NUJ has welcomed the government's decision to extend the suspension of the Minimum Income Floor.

Pamela Morton, national freelance officer said:

"The trade union movement has been key in pushing the UK government to extend the suspension of the Minimum Income Floor (MIF) and it’s welcomed that the government has listened. The suspension will now be extended to the end of April and this will help those who would have seen a significant drop in their award.
"We still call on the government to raise Universal Credit to a Real Living Wage equivalent and to abolish the MIF permanently."
