The term LGBT+ is intended to be inclusive terminology and refers, but is not limited to, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex and asexual people.

The NUJ Equality Council has been mandated to support the broader work of the Union in challenging prejudice and discrimination that impact the lives of many LGBT+ people as well as seeking to support self-organisation in the workplace.

An NUJ LGBT+ delegation attends the annual Trades Union Congress (TUC) LGBT+ Conference; raising awareness of the issues that are faced by LGBT+ journalists and communities alike. If you would like more information on how to become a delegate, please get in touch with the Equality Council who will be delighted to hear from you.

We also encourage members to attend PRIDE events in celebrating all that has been achieved whilst recognising that there is still more to be done.

The NUJ has an LGBT+ network, which holds speaker-led events  and provides a safe space for LGBT+ members where they can discuss issues and exchange information. If you are intested in getting involved email [email protected],uk
