Union democracy

The NUJ is a democratic union with opportunities for members to get involved a multiple levels.

The NUJ's structures present many opportunities to get more involved in the union. 

Chapels

There are a number of chapel roles defined in the rulebook. The lead rep in a chapel is known as the mother or father of the chapel.

Branches

Branches play an important role in union democracy and are a great way to get more involved in the union.

Elections

The union encourages all members to play an active role in our organisation and the NUJ is a democratic and campaigning trade union that strives to represent media workers in all sectors of the media industry.

Delegate meeting

The NUJ's policy, objectives and campaigning priorities are decided at the NUJ conference – the delegate meeting (DM).
