Redundancy Pay
You are entitled to redundancy pay if you are an employee with at least two years' service.
Challenging redundancy dismissals
It has often proved hard to challenge employers over how they score employees, create a selection pool or run their overall redundancy selection process.
Alternative work
If you are at risk of redundancy, your employer should give you an opportunity to apply for 'suitable alternative employment'.
Selection for redundancy
If your employer is planning to reduce the number of employees in a particular organisation or team, they must make a list of roles to be considered for redundancy.
Consultation with union reps or employee representatives
Before an employer begins to consult with union reps or elected employee representatives, they must provide them with written information.
Redundancies where there is no recognised union
If there is no recognised union, your employer must consult 'employee representatives'.
Collective consultation
Your employer is legally obliged to consult over collective redundancies if they plan to make 20 or more redundancies; if the redundancies are in one establishment; and if they plan to make the redundancies within 90 days.
Redundancy
Redundancy is usually a dismissal when a role is no longer needed.
