Claudia Jones Memorial Lecture 2022

  • 19 Oct 2022

The NUJ and its Black Members’ Council is hosting a free special event celebrating the life and work of trailblazer Claudia Jones on 14 November.

"Who Let The Dogs Out? What racism tells us about news values and what the News doesn't tell us about black people."

Join us to mark the 20th year anniversary of the Claudia Jones Memorial Lecture at the Hallam Conference Centre in London, from 6.30-8.30pm. The unmissable event will have guest speaker and NUJ Member of Honour Gary Younge address attendees.

Claudia Jones was a journalist, activist and campaigner - perhaps best known as one of the founding members of The Notting Hill Carnival and the first black newspaper, The West Indian Gazette and Afro-Asian Caribbean News, this remarkable black woman made a significant contribution to society.

Tickets are free and all are welcome to this in-person event with free refreshments. We hope you will join us in remembering her life and the continuing struggle for equality today.
