Response to proposed changes by the BBC to reduce news and current affairs and increase on BBC Radio 5 Live and changes to regional news coverage
The NUJ has questioned the proposal to to reduce the News and Current Affairs quota and increase the sports quota on BBC Radio 5 Live. There is plenty of scope to increase sports coverage on the network without cutting news. The NUJ also opposed plans for job cuts and sharing of programmes at BBC local radio, including the scrapping of the Radio Foyle breakfast show and its bespoke news bulletins serving Derry and the North West.
