The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Dutch Centre are hosting:
Just Talk (s) Brave Journalism, Tuesday 27 February, from 12:30 – 14:30 at the Dutch Centre.
Brave journalism is vital for democracy, but online and offline threats against journalists continue to grow, increasing the risk of self-censorship. Join us to discuss recent trends in threats against journalists and what is needed to provide safety solutions for journalists.
How can we counter the normalization of these threats in the sector? And what can the industry, policymakers and the justice system do together to protect journalists?
Join our expert panellists:
- Michelle Stanistreet, National Union of Journalists
- Peter ter Velde, PersVeilig
- Fiona O’Brien, Reporters without Borders
- Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC, Doughty Street Chambers
The discussion will be moderated by Fleur Launspach, Dutch NOS correspondent in the UK.
With Just Talk(s) – Brave Journalism, the Embassy looks to facilitate an open dialogue to share perspectives from both the Netherlands and the UK, and beyond, to build new partnerships and learn from each other.
Doors open 12:30, with panel discussion and audience from 13:00 – 14:30. A light lunch is provided. Access is free of charge, but you need to reserve your ticket in advance.
