Scottish executive council
The NUJ's Scottish executive council (SEC) co-ordinates the union’s activities in Scotland.
The executive has seats for NUJ reps from different branches and workplaces across Scotland. The NUJ NEC representatives for Scotland also attend the SEC, as do the union's full-time officials.
The SEC plays a leading role in setting the union's priorities in Scotland.
Working with the union’s full-time officials and the Scottish branches, the SEC ensures NUJ members are fully supported.
The SEC lobbies the Scottish government about the media in Scotland, and the recruitment of student journalists; highlights concerns about job cuts at the BBC; helps members deal with stress in the workplace; and ensures freelancers are properly paid for their work.
