NUJ training Wales
The NUJ training in Wales is funded by the Welsh government's Wales Union Learning Fund, set up to develop media workers' skills.
New money obtained in 2013 will take the funding to the end of March 2016.
The programme provides one or two-day workshops in a variety of digital and core journalism skills, which include building your own website; writing for the web; shooting and editing high-quality video with an iPhone; using the FOI Act – a practical guide for journalists; media law, ethics and copyright refreshers and a workshop on meaningful networking (digital and face-to-face).
The union takes a social media workshops roadshow around Wales, delivering taster sessions in English and Welsh and offers an annual mentoring and coaching programme to develop leadership and management skills (Institute of Leadership and Management Certificate).
NUJ Training Wales has its own bilingual website where trainers and trainees can publish blogs and news. It is also a portal for our e-learning for new freelances, business skills for freelances, and finance for freelances.
Our twitter profile is @nujtrainwales and we have followers including journalists, PR and communications workers, campaigners, print and broadcast editors, Welsh assembly members and Welsh members of parliament.
