Apply for a George Viner Memorial Fund bursary

The George Viner Memorial Fund

Trustees consider applications on an annual basis. The timetable for applications for courses taking place in 2020/2021 is as follows:

Applications available  13 May, 2020
Deadline for applications  17 July 2020
Shortlisting To be announced
Interviews To be announced

This applies to courses in the 2020/2021 academic year – even if courses started in, for example, January 2020.

Applications received outside the deadline will not be considered.

Please download the bursary application pack, read the guidance, complete and return by email to georgeviner@nuj.org.uk Include any examples of your journalistic work with your application form.

As a George Viner Scholar, you will receive much more than financial assistance. You will be invited to open days, conferences and meetings relating to your chosen field of journalism and have the support of the trustees throughout your course. All scholars must attend the annual ceremony, held in February, which is attended by journalists and industry leaders.

You are also encouraged to join the NUJ as a student member and, once you qualify, as a full member. The benefits of being a student member of the union are extensive.

Good luck with your application!
