World Mental Health Day 2018
10 October 2018
Message from Ann Galpin, Chair of the NUJ Disabled Members' Council and Co-Chair of TUC Disabled Workers' Committee on World Mental Health Day 2018
The National Union of Journalists has supported me, both as a journalist and as a mental health survivor. Solidarity from branch, industrial sector and equality council colleagues and staff enables me to contribute as an expert by experience to campaigns around workplace mental health, bullying and negative work stress, and post-traumatic stress disorder (an occupational risk for many reporters and photographers). But there is much work still to do around ending the stigma that has compounded the pain of mental distress for too long. Be part of the shift. Let your colleagues, family and friends know it's OK to say if you don't feel OK."
