The Journalist Editor election result 2019

6 November 2019

The ballot of NUJ members to decide who will be the editor of The Journalist for the next 5 year term of office closed on Wednesday 6 November 2019. Nine candidates took part in the election.

Christine Buckley has been re-elected as the editor of the union's magazine. She said:

"I’m very proud to be re-elected by the NUJ’s membership to edit their magazine The Journalist. I try to give The Journalist the broadest appeal possible so we keep hold of our members and attract new ones. I’m always glad when the magazine gets positive feedback but when you’re in an elected position the ultimate test is in the ballot. Thanks to all who voted for me and supported me and to my fellow candidates for a decent and fair contest."

The result is subject to endorsement by the union’s National Executive Council, which meets on Friday 8 November 2019.

The election was carried out by Electoral Reform Services, and was conducted using the single transferable vote electoral system.
