NUJ voices concern over That's TV
31 July 2018
The NUJ is deeply concerned by reports of That’s TV obtaining five local licences in Scotland following the closure of STV2.
Writing for the Bella Caledonia website, Dale McEwan catalogued his experiences of working on That’s Solent, listing poor pay and exhausting hours as major issues for him and his colleagues.
An investigation by Buzzfeed discovered identical problems. According to BuzzFeed, Labour’s shadow culture secretary, Tom Watson, has described That’s TV’s performance as an embarrassment for the government.
John Toner, NUJ Scotland organiser, said:
“Dale McEwan’s report is deeply disturbing, and it is vital that anyone applying for a job with That’s TV should seek advice. Job applicants should join the NUJ and we can advise on the proposed terms and conditions, and organise journalistic staff within the workplace."
