NUJ official celebrates at TUC organising academy graduation

The union has congratulated staff member Dominic Bascombe, NUJ Assistant Organiser in Glasgow, for gaining the advanced diploma in organising from the TUC.
The main aim of the TUC's Organising Academy, who offer the diploma, is to support unions to build organisational capacity and run effective campaigns.
The diploma in advanced organising is for experienced officers and those who have completed the diploma course. The course explores in more detail the key skills and knowledge needed by union officers.
The programme involves strategic campaigning, developing activists and negotiations in campaigns. The programme is delivered in partnership with Ruskin College.
Dominic Bascombe, NUJ assistant organiser, said:
"The advanced diploma in organising is a great combination of strategic and hands on campaign planning, alongside the opportunity to build a strong comraderie with other union organisers."
Michelle Stanistreet, NUJ general secretary, said:
"Congratulations to Dominic, I'm pleased he was able to do the course whilst learning alongside colleagues from other unions. TUC education and training provides the opportunity to build knowldge and skills to help prepare unions for the organising and campaigning challenges ahead."
