NUJ and BECTU condemn Gaza appeal ban
26 January 2009
The leaders of the two largest unions representing broadcasting workers have condemned the BBC and Sky's decision not to broadcast a charity appeal for humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Jeremy Dear, NUJ general secretary, and Gerry Morrisey, BECTU general secretary, have called the ban "wrong". They have written to the BBC and Sky asking them to reconsider.
The national executives of both unions voted at the weekend to oppose the BBC's refusal to show the appeal.
