Justice for Bolton campaign continues

21 April 2013

A Unite Against Fascism counter demonstration, called in response to an English Defence League (EDL) mobilisation in Bolton, Greater Manchester on 20 March 2010, was attacked by the police. Their actions resulted in both physical injuries and intense emotional distress to many of those anti-fascists subjected to the attack, which included parents with children, older people and disabled people.

Fifty-five anti-fascists were arrested that day. Police investigations into conspiracy charges against the anti-fascist organisers, one of whom is NUJ member Dr Rhetta Moran, were stopped after nine months.

The campaign was launched in parliament in June 2010.
