Investigatory Powers Bill: event videos
20 April 2016
The National Union of Journalists, the Bar Council and Law Society organised a joint event in parliament about the Investigatory Powers Bill on Monday 11 April. The meeting highlighted our specific concerns relating to the safety and confidentiality of sources, whistleblowers and individuals seeking legal representation.
The three organisations have come together as part of the ‘Speak in Safety Campaign’ and are campaigning for parliamentary support to amend the Investigatory Powers Bill to adequately protect the anonymity of sources and whistleblowers and guarantee that clients can speak with their legal representatives in confidence.
The event was chaired by Joanna Cherry QC MP -
