The BBC has agreed to extend the current moratorium on compulsory redundancies in News Group, Wales and Scotland until the end of October.
This extends the moratorium negotiated with Tony Hall, the director general, last September.
In a letter to NUJ members of the BBC, Michelle Stanistreet, general secretary, said:
"The NUJ has been clear that our key priority is securing permanent roles for those individuals facing compulsory redundancy. We have also raised a number of ways in which the redeployment process could be improved, fairer recruitment practices can be secured and the BBC can avoid wasting money on needless redundancies. We will keep you updated on our continued negotiations."
