Bristol Cathedral, College Green, Bristol BS1 5TJ
Workers Memorial Day is being celebrated at Bristol cathedral on Sunday.
There will be a gathering for all faiths and none at the cathedral, College Green from 13:00-14:00 and a wreath will be laid at the Workers' Memorial Plaque in Castle Park at 14:30.
The day is to recognise the 2 million people who die of work-related accidents and disease every year; with at least 20,000 dying in the UK as a result of their work. The building trade, agriculture and industry are sectors with dangers for workers, but even office-based work can affect one's health. Journalists, particularly those working in conflict zones, also put themselves in danger.
Having union health and safety reps reduces serious work-related injuries by 50 per cent.
BBC Bristol's Sally Challoner will interview relatives of those killed through work. Other speakers will be from the South West TUC, Public Health England, the Blacklist Support Group, Labour behind the Label, and Bristol Multi-Faith Forum, and there will also be performances by the Red Notes Choir.
