Much of the media is pale, male and middle class (and stale?), but a number of women are creating new websites to help diversify the media. One of those is The Canary, which, since it launched last October, has become a strong voice in news and politics – a critical and sometimes controversial one.
At its helm is founder and editor-in-chief Kerry-anne Mendoza, aka Scriptonite of the Scriptonite Daily blog, who will travel from Bristol to speak to this special NUJ branch meeting about The Canary and what it's like being a woman in new media.
Refreshments will be provided.
