Freelances have to win and negotiate their own work, but this doesn't come naturally to many journalists.

This one-day course is for those who have recently gone freelance or want to brush up their skills, will provide ideas and practice on how to win new work and negotiate its terms.

Those attending be prepared to take part in workshop-style exercises and to talk about money.

Tutor: SA Mathieson has worked as a freelance journalist full-time for more than 10 years. He has commissioned freelancers as an editor, including for the Guardian’s Healthcare Professionals section, and has run training courses for the NUJ, the Federation of Entertainment Unions, City Lit and corporate clients.
