The Teachers' Club, 36 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1
It has been 100 years since the Dublin lock out and the NUJ has organised a conference to ask: Are women still 'locked out'?
Come along to the NUJ Ireland women's conference and help us discuss and plan union campaigns to challenge the discrimination against women in the media in Ireland – as media workers and media consumers.
How are women portrayed in today's media?
What can we do to negotiate and fight for better rights for women journalists and media workers?
What does history teach us and how can we learn from the lessons of Irish labour history?
The NUJ welcomes women members and non-members working in the media to come along and hear from a range speakers about a range of themes including the portrayal of women in the media; sexism at work and discuss how we can come together to help to push for women's equality in Ireland.
The conference will start at with a networking lunch, followed by panels of speakers and discussion.
Confirmed speakers for the conference include:
- Dr Mary Cullen
- Anthea McTeirnan
- Michelle Stanistreet
More speakers will be announced soon.
