With recent legislation about lobbying, PR workers being put under pressure to lie for their employer, issues about ‘spin’ and a public suspicion of PR, there’s lots to be done to demonstrate that PR is a valid and ethical business.
The NUJ is often asked for advice from members who are asked to behave unethically.
Print and broadcast journalists will join experts who work in a range of different PR roles and are members of the NUJ, CIPR and PRCA to discuss the risks of unethical PR, how to manage pressure to do the wrong thing and tips for making doing the right thing the best thing for employers and clients.
The discussion will be informal, with plenty of chances to ask questions and share thoughts. Anyone who works in the industry or is studying PR is welcome to this lively and interesting debate.
Afterwards there will be a chance to network and meet local journalists and PRs.
