Freelances need to pitch for work and to do deals. This course will show how to present your work and your ideas and what goes into making a deal and how you might improve on that first offer. This one-day course aims to help freelances market their work and negotiate better deals for themselves.
Through role-play exercises and discussion, participants will work on the skills and attitudes needed to try to get more commissions and more money.
This will include -
- Pitching ideas with deals in mind
- Identifying outlets
- Interacting with editors
- Thinking about fees
- Asking for more money
- Adding conditions
- Understanding the psychology of pitching and dealing
- Coming up with scripts for situations
- Role plays to put ideas into practice
