Workshop: How to make effective Freedom of Information requests
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act can be a powerful tool for magazine journalists, to provide vital data for research, test the impact of government policy or hold a public body to account.
Making a request for information under the FOI act is fairly straightforward, but making effective requests can be tricky.
In this practical workshop, Katherine Gundersen from the Campaign for Freedom of Information will explain when to use the FOI act and how to plan and execute your requests to ensure you get the information you really need.
Aimed at both beginners and those who already make FOI requests, the course will be interactive to help you work out how best to apply the act in a variety of situations.
PLUS - Workplace reports, finalising of motions and nominations to elected bodies for the union's delegate meeting - DM 2020. Proposed motions will be circulated by email ahead of the meeting - please make sure your contact details including an email address are up-to-date and you can check and amend your personal contact details via log in on the NUJ website.
Please download the leaflet for the event, to print out, or email to colleagues and pin it on your work noticeboard.
This event is for NUJ members only. Please consider joining the NUJ if you would like to attend this event.
