This course offers advice and guidance on how participants can produce an effective new or thoroughly revised CV. The emphasis will be on analysing the function and purpose of the CV and how that knowledge can help to produce new CVs, tailored to specific clients and markets.
Initial review of each other’s CVs (paired activity)
What you want your CV to do for you?
Fundamentals of effective CV writing
Assessment/review of ‘mock’ CVs (group exercise)
Identifying key achievements and vital experiences that should be highlighted in your CV
Participants working on PCs improving their own CVs, based on the work we have done earlier.
Participants will be re-working and re-thinking their CVs.
Questions and Answers
All participants will receive direct and constructive feedback from the Tutor.
Participants can bring laptops to the course. If they do not have access to one, they must warn NUJ Training so that we can provide one. Those not bringing laptops need to bring their current CV(s) on a memory stick.
All attending should bring a hard copy of their CV to the course.
Please note: The tutor requires prior sight of participants' CVs in order to have sufficient time to analyse them well in advance of the workshops. It is imperative therefore that participants send an electronic copy of their CV by email to the NUJ training at: email@example.com 7 working days before the start of the course. [This requirement will vary in the case of late bookings.]
