It’s the final NUJ Active of 2019. We want to take this opportunity to thank all NUJ members for their support during the past 12 months.
A special word of thanks to activists throughout the union. The NUJ is your union and without those who work so hard in many ways we simply could not function.
Hopefully Christmas will be a time of rest and relaxation. Do spare a though for the many members who will be on duty, keeping the rest of us informed and entertained.
Meanwhile, 2020 promises to be a busy and challenging year and in the coming months branch meeting will be dominated by preparations for our Delegate Meeting which takes place in Southport on 24-26 April.
Having sent seasonal greetings to family and friends, don’t forget to keep an eye out for post from the NUJ. Ballot papers have been issued for election to the National Executive Council and several union councils. The closing date is 12pm on Wednesday 29 January.
Christmas opening hours
The NUJ offices will be open until 13.00 on Tuesday 24 December.
Offices in London, Dublin and Manchester reopen on Tuesday 2 January.
Owing to the public holiday in Scotland, the Glasgow office opens on Wednesday 3 January.
Christmas is a time when many people focus on making a difference by donating to charities and good causes.
We in the NUJ support the union’s two charities
- The hardship fund NUJ Extra https://www.nuj.org.uk/work/nuj-extra/
- The George Viner Memorial Fund which seeks to address the lack of diversity in the British and Irish media by providing bursaries for journalism students.
The NUJ also supports the International Federation of Journalists’ Safety Fund which provides financial assistance to journalists and their families in a range of emergency cases such as death, threats, violence, imprisonment, exile and illness.
