Apply for a bursary
Trustees consider applications on an annual basis, with the funding round opening in May and deadline for application in August each year.
The timetable for applications for courses taking place in 2014/2015 is as follows:

This applies to courses in the 2014/15 academic year – even if courses start in, for example, January 2015.
Applications received outside the deadline will not be considered.
Before applying to the fund, please read the Conditions of Sponsorship to ensure you meet the criteria. All applicants must return a signed version of the Conditions of Sponsorship with their completed application form, indicating they will comply with all the conditions. For more detailed guidance on completing the form, please read the application guidance notes.
Once you have done that, you will be required fill in the application form. It is particularly important that you put down all your predicted costs for the course – including fees, travel, accommodation expenses, books and other equipment.

As a George Viner Scholar, you will receive much more than financial assistance. You will be invited to open days, conferences and meetings relating to your chosen field of journalism and have the support of the trustees throughout your course. All scholars must attend the annual ceremony, held in February, which is attended by journalists and industry leaders.
