Candidates revealed for editorship of the Journalist

Eight candidates are set to contest the election for the position of Editor of the Journalist, the NUJ’s magazine for members.

The union’s National Executive Council completed its shortlisting process on Tuesday morning.

It had to decide which of the applicants were eligible to go forward to the ballot of all eligible NUJ members, which will take place between Tuesday 6 October and Friday 6 November.

The following candidates have been shortlisted for the position (in alphabetical order of surnames):

Tim Arnold
Christine Buckley
Michael Cross
Frank Morgan
Richard Simcox
Stephen David Tilley
Steven Usher
Mark Watts

Ballot papers will be sent out to all eligible NUJ members on Tuesday 6 October.

Voting will be by post using the single transferable vote method.

The ballot papers must reach the scrutineers, Electoral Reform Services, in London by noon on Friday 6 November.

All candidates have been invited to a hustings meeting to take place between 7pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday 7 October, at the NUJ’s headquarters, 308, Grays Inn Road, London, WC1X 8DP.

All NUJ members are welcome to attend and ask questions.

Branches and chapels that wish to organise hustings elsewhere should contact NUJ head office on info@nuj.org.uk – to ensure there are no clashes and that all candidates are invited.
