Equal Pay complaint leads to success for NUJ member

An NUJ member working for the Press Association has achieved an £8k per annum back--dated pay increase after lodging a grievance supported by the NUJ.
Agreement was reached following negotiations with the union and was in recognition of additional skills acquired as part of a new job role.
The union will support members who can show that there is an unjustifiable pay gap between them and another employee of the opposite sex.
Equal pay claims may be brought by male or female employees.
Laura Davison, NUJ Assistant Organiser, said that this was a good outcome and one which brought home the relevance of having the union behind you.
