Most browsers support access-key functionality, which provides access to key parts of the Web site interface. Unfortunately, not all browsers support this feature (*) or implement it in exactly the same way. In most cases, you can use access keys by following these guidelines:
Windows users should press "ALT" plus the listed access key.
Macintosh users should press "Control" plus the listed access key (do not use the Apple key).
On Mozilla browsers, you should be redirected to the appropriate page. With IE, press "Enter" to go to the page. We have included the standard recommended access keys:
- s = Skip Navigation
- n = Top Menu (home and search)
- 1 = Home Page
- 2 = Main Menu Bar
- 3 = Policy Notice
- 4 = Contact Us
- 5 = Search
- 0 = Accessibility Help (this page)
All modern browsers allow you to adjust the size of the text in the browser window. Typically, click on 'View>Text size' or 'View>Text zoom' on your browser menu bar and select the size you require.
The site allows you to view or print pages without the masthead, banners, sidebars or other extraneous material. You may turn off images in your browser. Click on 'Text Only Version' or 'Print Page' at the foot of the pages, respectively. The site has been designed to be readable by screen readers which ignore layout and font styles.
(* We have found, for example, that Netscape 8 using the IE engine does not recognise access keys. We shall add others to this list as they become known.)
