Hands off the BBC licence fee
BBC dont topslice campaign
The NUJ - with other media unions - has launched a big campaign to save the BBC licence fee from attack.
The government is considering top-slicing the fee - giving some of it to commercial companies to produce local news.
That would cut the budget for BBC output and put public money in the hands of profit-hungry shareholders rather than programme makers.
The unions have already put forward alternative funding suggestions for public service content in media other than the BBC.
The other organisations supporting the campaign are:
Order protest postcards to hand out at your union, political, community or religious group from
campaigns@nuj.org.uk .
If you are a journalist or editorial worker the best way of supporting our campaign is to
join the NUJ.
