Manchester Office Contacts
Union activities in the Midlands and North of England and North Wales are organised from the NUJ Manchester office. The office is responsible for recruiting new members, negotiating agreements, and representing and advising individual members across the - loosely defined - 'northern' region.

The concerns most often voiced by members include stress at work, long hours, low pay, bullying bosses and sex equality, but in recent months the office has been heavily engaged in concluding new recognition agreements. We are also involved with local issues, such as the campaign to save Leeds-based Pakistani journalist Parvaiz Asim from deportation. We work with the National Coalition of Anti-Deportation Campaigns.
We also take up professional questions - for example, disputes with courts and councils in the region over freedom of infomation and access to meetings and events.
Finally, the office acts as a local information point for people with queries over membership, subs, or other matters on NUJ procedure and policy.
