At his funeral at St Michael’s Church, Maesteg, South Wales, Tad y Capel/Father of the Chapel Martin Huws, said: “In the tough world of industrial relations it’s significant that he didn’t have a bad word to say about anybody. His sense of decency rose above that. 

“I was impressed by the fact that he wanted to live in a world whose people’s needs were met rather than a world ruled by greed. He was totally unselfish, always putting the interests of members before his own. 

 

"He was the gentlest of men but with strong principles. We have lost a loyal and trusted colleague and our world is diminished.”
