Press and public relations

If you work in press or public relations, the NUJ is the union for you.

We are by far the biggest trade union in the industry. Not all press or PR workers see themselves as a journalist but the NUJ recognises the important role you play in the media as a whole.

Our members work right across the sector – you may be a press officer, communications officer/manager, public and media relations officer/director, public relations consultant, photographer, copywriter, editor of an in-house/corporate journal, a web editor, media trainer or creative artist working editorially in the media or PR.

The NUJ is constantly campaigning to improve pay, benefits and working conditions, throughout the industry.

The NUJ’s members working in the sector enjoy protection at work and free legal advice if you run into problems, ethical guidelines to help you make those tough decisions, pensions and health and safety advice and a press card.
