Book publishing

If you work in book publishing the NUJ is the union for you.

NUJ membership is open to workers in book publishing.

You may be a writer, editor, proofreader, sub-editor or illustrator.

Or you may work in marketing, production, on editorial IT systems or as a company librarian.

You may be working for a small book publisher or for a huge organisation like Macmillan.

The NUJ campaigns on the important issues facing publishing workers - poor rates of pay, excessive overtime, a lack of proper breaks, redundancy, professional issues and much more.

At any one time we could be winning a pay rise for staff in one workplace, defending an individual against bullying in another or campaigning to protect the rights of freelances.

If you would like to know more about what we are doing where you work, click here.

If you work in book publishing as a freelance click here.

If you work in book publishing and are not yet a member of the NUJ, click here

The Publishing Training Centre offers NUJ members a 10% discount on their open courses. The PTC offers a range of courses that would be valuable to members working in the Book industry. For more details visit www.train4publishing.co.uk
