All telephones at the NUJ's Kings Cross building were knocked out by the electrical failure, as well as email and some computer systems across the whole organisation.

Although the London office had to be closed, members with urgent queries were able to contact NUJ officials using their mobile numbers published on the NUJ website. The union was also able to relocate a training course taking place that day to a nearby alternative venue.

While action taken by the union should have minimised any disruption for NUJ members, the union apologises for any inconvenience that the power outage may have caused.
