Over 60? Then NUJ 60+ is an organisation for you
The NUJ's newest national organisation was launched in November 2009 to help the union, union pensions groups and the National Pensioners’ Convention in campaigning on the vital issues that affect the quality of life of members aged 60 and over.
We know that approximately 6,000 NUJ members are over the age of 60. Some are still working, others are retired from work, but many have told us they want to join in the work of NUJ 60+. We share common interests in fighting for adequate pension arrangements from the state and the occupational pension sector, but also in maintaining and improving welfare services that enable older people to play their full role in society with dignity.
NUJ 60+ provides the opportunity for our members to use their vast experience and collective voice to this end.
The NUJ is affiliated at national level to the
National Pensioners Convention, with union officials and lay officers involved in the work of the Convention in a number of areas. NUJ branches can affiliate to their NPC regional sectors in order to activate the work at local level and deal with specific issues. We urge branches to do so.
