Support for PCS strike action

The NUJ is urging members to support colleagues in the PCS public sector union who  began a month of industrial action with a 48-hour strike in a dispute over unilateral changes to redundancy terms.

The PCS has 270,000 members across the UK, and those taking strike action work as Jobcentre staff, tax workers, coastguards, border agency officials, courts staff and driving test examiners. The PCS website explains the background to the dispute.

NUJ general secretary Jeremy Dear said: "NUJ members will know that in many of our own disputes we have had invaluable help from PCS. I know our members will want to reciprocate that support now. "

There's a list of PCS offices across the UK where NUJ members can send messages of support or check where local PCS pickets and demonstrations will take place.

And there's a model letter which members can send to their MPs to support PCS.
